64 years of the Caprock Classic
The first tournament was started when Texas Tech basketball head coach Polk Robison approached Caprock AMBUCS to host a high school boys basketball tournament. It was a great fundraiser for AMBUCS to raise money for a proposed pre-school for mentally handicapped children. Which teams are coming this year?
The 65th annual Caprock Classic will have teams from across Texas and Oklahoma.
In 2023, 119 teams played for the chance to play in the Gene Messer Auto Group Championship at Frenship's Tiger Pit. The 2023 tournament will be the largest tournament in history.
Who runs the tournament?
The Tournament is hosted by Lubbock Caprock AMBUCS, a local non-profit comprised of community volunteers. Funds raised from the Caprock Classic are used to help people with disabilities. Find out more in the About Us tab or visit www.caprockambucs.com.
